Daniel Stamm, the director of The Last Exorcism, will direct Reincarnate, the second of M. Night Shyamalan’s three-film series The Night Chronicles.
Shyamalan is acting as a producer on the series of films, the first of which, Devil, opens September 17.
The story for Reincarnate was written by Buried writer Chris Sparling and Paul Grellong. It centers on a jury, which while deciding the fate of an accused murderer, is haunted by supernatural forces that hold the key to the case.
This will be Stamm’s first straight-ahead dramatic feature. Exorcism was made with the documentary-style popular among low-budget horror films and comedies. Production on the film is slated to begin in 2011.

Being the only new wide release movie this week, combined with 3-D price premiums, helped push Resident Evil: Afterlife to a new record opening for the franchise. Afterlife made an estimated $27.7 million easily topping the $23.7 million of the last movie, Resident Evil: Extinction. However, in terms of estimated attendance, Afterlife likely ranked last and slightly behind the first movie.
