Resident Evil: Afterlife - Full HD Trailer 2 [English] In theaters September 10th
In what may or may not be an attempt at a viral publicity stunt, Paramount has announced that the Cinemark theater chain in Texas has pulled the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 because it is “too scary”. Given that the main marketing push of the first (not very scary) film focused primarily on shots of the audience being frightened instead of scenes from the movie the skepticism that this is more of the same is understandable.
The trailer was shown in front of the midnight and 3am showings of Twilight: Eclipse. This begs the question of how anyone willing to see a vampire movie at 3am could possibly be scared by a girl standing in a doorway doing nothing. However, a Paramount exec has confirmed the report to Deadline, saying:
I actually went to a couple of theaters last night, and a ton of girls jumped out of their seats and screamed. All I can tell you is people complained and Cinemark pulled it down.
Meanwhile, on the heels of the internet chatter about the trailers hidden messages /Film has graced us with a screenshot highlighting the most interesting aspects of the final shot from the trailer.
